Complete Wellness Services

Pet immunization and wellness should be an ongoing factor in your pet's health. We can provide both for your pet at West Toledo Animal Hospital.

Benefits of Immunizations

Both cats and dogs need vaccines to stay healthy and avoid certain illnesses and conditions. Some vaccines can be given as early as at 8 weeks of age. Below are some reasons we give vaccinations to cats and dogs.

  • Vaccinations prevent diseases
  • Pet illnesses can be prevented
  • Unvaccinated pets can get distemper, Lepto and rabies from wild animals
  • Vaccines can prevent costly procedures for diseases that can be prevented

Types of Immunizations

There are a variety of immunizations that both cats and dogs should get at different life stages. There are important, or core vaccines and noncore vaccines that are not required but can help keep your pet healthy. Core vaccines for dogs include:

  • Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvovirus (DAP)
  • Rabies, Leptospirosis
  • Bordetella vaccines
  • A noncore vaccination for dogs is the Canine Influenza vaccine.

Core vaccines for cats are:

  • Feline Panleukopenia/Herpesvirus-1/Calicivirus (FVRCP) vaccine
  • Feline Rabies vaccine
  • Noncore vaccines for cats is the Feline Leukemia Vaccine.

We administer these vaccines at different stages of life in both cats and dogs to ensure their health and safety.

Pet Wellness

Taking your cat or dog to see one of our veterinarians for yearly wellness exams should be a regular part of their health. We can check for underlying health issues and make sure your pet is up-to-date with their immunizations at their wellness checkup. We offer puppy, kitten, adult, and senior pet wellness checkups. Each animal requires different needs at various times in their life. By bringing your cat or dog in for wellness checks helps ensure that they stay healthy and avoid any unpleasant illnesses and conditions.

Bring your puppy or kitten in for a checkup to make sure they get a healthy start to life. Most young animals have roundworms, so bring them in so that we can help get rid of these worms before they cause harm to your pet or spread to you. Young animals also need vaccinations to prevent other health issues from coming up as well. Ask us about our wellness packages as well as our VIP Pet plan.

What to Expect

Our office staff are here to help you feel welcome when you and your pet first arrive at West Toledo Animal Hospital. We will treat you like family and do our best to make you and your pet feel right at home in our office.

One of our experienced veterinarians will perform a physical exam on your cat or dog to make sure there are no physical signs of an illness or a condition. We will ask you questions about your pet's overall health, diet, any changes in behavior, and anything else you may notice that can hint at a health issue. We may run bloodwork and x-rays at this time as well.

Make an Appointment

Make an appointment with us so that we can check the overall health of your pet and give them any vaccines they may need. Please contact us if you have any questions about our wellness exams or vaccinations. We are here to make sure your pet stays happy and healthy at every stage of their life.
